The Power of Plants

From the beginning of time plants have been used to heal, nurture and bring positive energy to people all over the world. Consuming a predominantly whole foods plant based diet can increase longevity and help support a healthy body by lowering the risk of developing heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Plant-based diets also offer all the necessary macronutrients, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal health.

Wheatgrass is the first growth sprouted from the hard red wheat berry. Wheatgrass was popularized in the 1970’s and has been around since the early 1930’s. It is often juiced or dehydrated and sold in a freeze-dried form. Wheatgrass has many benefits including being a superior source of chlorophyll (considered the blood of plants) that helps to decompose superoxide radicals into the body into a more manageable form and therefore slowing down the aging process. 

Dr. Birscher, a research scientist, termed chlorophyll as “concentrated sun power”. He said, “Chlorophyll increases the function of the heart, vascular system, intestines, uterus, and lungs”.

Kale, a dark leafy green, has about ten different varieties and several things in common. Kale is  one of the most nutritious leafy greens due to how rich it is in antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds. It contains 3X more Vitamin C than spinach and collards and is an excellent source of Vitamin K, with a single raw cup containing 70% of the daily recommendation. Vitamin K is an important nutrient that is critical for blood clotting. 

Pineapple, is an incredibly healthy, delicious tropical fruit. There is an active enzyme found in the fruit and stem of the pineapple called Bromelain. Bromelain has been used as a supplement for various health issues but specifically for inflammation, digestion, sinusitis and some infections.
